The fleet expands

1944

The two aircraft companies, Flugfélag Íslands and Loftleidir, continued to add to their fleets in the following years. In the summer of 1944, Flugfélag Íslands operated two brand new De Havilland Rapide land-based planes in addition to the Beechcraft.

Loftleidir equipped itself with a new Stinson and a Grumman Goose flying boat. Many additional aircraft were added to the Icelandic fleet in 1944. The two companies were flying high carrying passengers and freight to many destinations all around the country.
