Star Ratings: Some of the Fosshotels now have star ratings from the Icelandic Tourist Board, but for the others the Fosshotels use their own rating codes. There are different Fosshotels to suit different types of travelers. The following hotel descriptions should help you choose the hotel for you!

Tourist Class: Medium priced hotels offering good standard rooms with both private bathrooms and shared bathrooms. Rooms have twin beds.  Standard is similar to a higher end two star hotel.

Comfort Tourist Class: Hotels at prime locations and major tourist destinations. Hotels have private bathrooms only.  Rooms have twin beds. Similar to three star quality.


Fosshotels in the Countryside:

Fosshotel Reykholt - Comfort Class (***) (Open year-round)
Location: West Iceland Located on the grounds of the home of Snorri Sturluson, Iceland's great 12th century Saga writer, poet and historian, this modern hotel is the perfect gateway to West Iceland's main historical and cultural sites. The famous waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss are also close by. Facilities: 53 rooms with private bathrooms. Also on site: restaurant, bar, library, TV, Internet lounge. Note: Hotel closed Dec 15, 2008 - Jan 15, 2009.

Fosshotel Dalvik - Tourist Class (Open May 1 - Sep 30, 2010)
Location: North Iceland. Fosshótel Dalvík is a new tourist class hotel located in the small town of Dalvík (about 30 minutes drive from Akureyri, North Iceland). The 25 rooms have private bathroom with shower, TV, phone, and wireless internet. Most rooms look either on the mountain or the fjord. The hotel also featuers a TV lounge, bar and Internet station. Breakfast room on site. Dalvik has snack bars, a bakery and a convenience restaurant. Fine dining options are in nearby Akureyri.

Fosshotel Husavik - Comfort Class (***)(Open May 1 - Sep 30, 2010)
Location: Northeast Iceland. Close to whale watching, Tjornes Peninsula, Myvatn and Jokulsargljufur National Park. Restaurant & bar on premises Facilities: 70 rooms with private bathroom, satellite TV, phone and radio.

Fosshotel Laugar - Comfort Class (Open Jun 1 - Aug 19, 2010)
Location: Northeast Iceland. Near Lake Myvatn, Husavik village and Godafoss falls. Restaurant and bar on premises Facilities: 72 rooms, 50 with private bathrooms. Restaurant & bar.

Fosshotel Vatnajokull - Comfort Class (***) (Open May 1 - Sep 30, 2010)
Location: Southeastern Iceland. Iceland's highest mountain is the backdrop for this hotel, located on the Ring Road near Hofn. Close to Vatnajokull Glacier, the Glacial Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park.Restaurant and bar on premises. Upgrade rooms include those with a view of the glacier. Bookings on-line for May and Sep. Hotel on request- only basis Jun - Aug. Facilities: 26 rooms with private bathrooms, television and phone.

Fosshotel Skaftafell - Comfort Class (***) (Open year-round)
Location: Southeast Iceland. Fosshotel Skaftafell is a comfortable 3 star tourist class hotel located in Skaftafell National Park.The hotel has 63 simple but practical rooms with shower/WC, satellite TV, phone and wireless internet access. All rooms are on ground floor and located in four different buildings and many offer scenic glacier view. Also on site are a restaurant, bar, TV and sitting lounge, internet station and a small gift shop. Upgrade rooms include those with a view of the glaciers. Free parking available. All guestrooms and restaurant/bar facilities are non-smoking.

Fosshotel Mosfell
- Tourist Class (Open Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2010)
Location: South Iceland. The conveniently-located Mosfell is a historic family owned hotel that is within easy driving distance to the natural wonders and historical sites of the entire south coast and Golden Circle. Facilities: 53 rooms,35 rooms with private bathrooms. Also on site: breakfast room, sitting room/lounge with television, and an Internet station.
