Departure Day: Depart from North America on evening flight (all gateways) or afternoon flight (Boston or New York). Complimentary soft drinks and in seat entertainment system. Meals and headsets available for purchase or bring your own.
Day 1: Arrival Day: After going through customs, head to the Fly Bus waiting at the curb outside the airport. Give your Fly Bus transfer (included in documents) to driver or attendant on bus. Transfer to hotel in Reykjavik for your first night in Iceland. There should be a pack of documents concerning your journey for you at the hotel. (No meals included today)
Day 2: After an early morning car pickup at Hertz drive through Whale Fjord (there is a toll involved for this, not included) via a sea tunnel or take the slightly longer, but more scenic coastal road to historic Borgarfjordur village. Pass Eldborg crater on the way to Snaefellsnes and its crown jewel, the sparkling glacial ice cap covering the volcano where Jules Verne began his masterpiece "Journey to the Center of the Earth". Day 3: Today is yours to seek out the mysteries of Snaefellsnes Peninsula. "Where the glacier meets the sky, the land ceases to be earthly, instead the earth becomes one with the heavens,? Halldor Laxness once wrote. You can see his inspiration in sites such as the Arnarstapi sea cliffs, the vast rocky beaches with rich bird and seal life and in bustling fishing villages. Day 4: Witness the awesome power of nature in the form of a fantastic waterfall that appears to escape out from lava walls. Learn about Iceland's volatile history when you visit Reykholt, home to the great 12th century Saga author Snorri Sturluson. Savor the beauty of Gullfoss waterfalls and the power of Geysir hot springs. (B)
Day 5: Enjoy water in all its forms when you visit scenic Skogafoss waterfall, stroll along the seacoast at Vik and view glittering Myrdalsjokull glacier. Drive through lush farmlands en route to Reykjavik. Overnight at hotel in Reykjavik. Optional activities (arranged in Iceland): Snowmobiling on Myrdalsjokull Glacier, kayaking from Stokkseyri (B)
Day 6: Today explore the hidden lunarscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula and Lake Kleifarvatn. This area hides unique treasures including bird watching cliffs, fishing villages, lighthouses and a bridge dividing Europe from North America. The crown jewel, however, is the world-famous Blue Lagoon, which you might enjoy visiting. The area also offers great whale watching and horseback riding. Drop off your car in Reykjavik. (B)
Day 7: Morning free for own activities before afternoon Fly Bus transfer to Keflavik airport. (B)
