Important : If you are arriving in Iceland on an evening flight from North America, this tour is NOT recommended for your arrival day. Passengers usually arrive at their hotel around 8am. Any delays could cause you to miss the tour departure. Icelandair cannot reimburse passengers for unused portions of a package or land only travel once travel starts.
The Hengill area near Reykjavik is one of Iceland's most powerful, impressive geothermal zones. This hiking trail skirts the Hengill volcano so you can hike from the hot springs of Nesjavellir geothermal area to Reykjadalur (the Valley of Steam). On the way explore an incredible variety of geothermal marvels, including colorful steam vents and bubbling mud pits. In Reykjadalur the geothermal waters heat a river where you can enjoy a relaxing bath before continuing on to the trail's end, near Hveragerdi village.
Wear: warm clothes, waterproof hiking boots, wind and rain proof outerwear. Bring: bathing suit, towel and packed lunch Note: No changing area at geothermal river.
