The heart of Iceland

Icelandair Stopover magazine cover image competition

This summer, we launched a cover image contest for the first time, open to photographers everywhere. We got thousands of submissions, all depicting the various aspects of Iceland. Naturally, choosing a winner was a challenge! The winner of this first-ever contest is Amii Palmer from the United Kingdom, whose rendition of the ice-shaped heart of Iceland won us over. Congratulations Amii!

But wait, there's more

Three other images were strong contenders for the cover image and represent the broad scope of submissions

Fireworks and the city, shot by Kyle Mortara from the United States.

A black-sand beach, shot by Julia Strack from Germany

Arctic tern by Jökulsárlón, shot by John Awad from the United States

We would like to thank everyone who sent their images in
for consideration. We are humbled and grateful that so
many people find inspiration in our home.
Congratulations to our winner and
runners-up!
