Notes Children from ages 10 - 17 can take part in classes but must be accompanied by an adult. Children 9 years and younger are not permitted to participate. Teaching is in English (we can tell you however that Eldhus is Icelandic for kitchen!) and class sizes are kept small (a minimum of two passengers is required to guarantee tour departure), making for a more interactive setting. Please note the menu does change according to the seasons, but the freshest local ingredients are always used.

The best way to get to know any country is through your taste buds, so Salt Eldhus Cooking School invites you to come and join them for some delicious fun and a chance to cook with fresh local ingredients under the supervision of their skilled instructors. The team at Salt Eldhus all work in esteemed restaurants throughout Reykjavik and welcome the opportunity to meet their customers by cooking with them instead of for them. Their emphasis is on the healthy and stylish New Nordic cuisine, with local Icelandic fish and lamb taking center stage as you learn to cook Nordic style. And for beginners, take note that Salt's cooking workshops do not require any prior culinary experience, although Salt caters to all skill levels, from gourmet cooks to novices alike.

Classes at Salt Eldhus (recently nominated as one of Europe's Top 50 cookery schools and one of the top 5 cookery schools in Scandinavia by Food and Travel Magazine) will involve you in every aspect of the art of cooking. With attentive guidance from experienced teachers and assistants, you'll prepare a three-course meal in each class, from learning to prepare a “mise-en-place”, to orchestrating a full meal and plating up your culinary creations. At the end of every class, you'll dine together with your classmates and savor the delicious meal you've created together. You'll also receive a recipe folder as a gift once your visit is over - a great reminder of your time spent with Salt Eldhus.
